Anyone wanna go watch fireworks tommorrow?
Places to go :
Heres what i got from the forum.
You don't need a ticket to go enjoy the fireworks. All you need is a little streetsmart :3
There are several spots which you can fully enjoy the fireworks, as well as the aerial displays (timings later on) of this year's NDP.
1. Marina Square Food Court.
The al-fresco seating area has an excellent view, overlooking the Esplanade, towards the future IRs. This is one of the best spots, assuming it's open, to see the fireworks. Comfortable seating, food nearby.
2. Gluttons' BayThis very crowded open-air food centre is endorsed by Makansutra, the premier guide to hawker food in Singapore. The things here are pretty pricey, but there should be views of the fireworks from the seats.
3. Singapore River (Esplanade)/ Esplanade Drive/ Merlion Park/ One FullertonThese four places are pretty close to where they'll most probably be setting off the fireworks from - but also the most crowded.
4. Marina Square, Starbucks/ Stairs behind Floating PlatformThere are several more places in Marina Square you most probably can see the fireworks from, and these two are it.
5. Bridge linking Millenia Walk and Marina SquareThis will only give you a partial view, you may see more as you go towards Marina Square.
6. Benjamin Shear's Bridge:There is a pedestrian footpath, accessible from opposite Millenia Tower. It's deserted and I'm not sure if it's open on Show Days.
7. Singapore Flyer - Greek ThethereThere is a sort of amphithethere next to the Singapore Flyer where you may get to see the fireworks, but it maybe a partial view.
8. St. Andrew's Road/ Connaught Drive along Esplanade ParkThere is a very large open field, and is pretty much unobstructed, other than some trees on one side of Connaught Drive. Excellent spot for a picnic :3
9. Rooftop Open Space, Esplanade mallThe best views can be found here, but if it's open or not, that's another matter.
10. Esplanade Park - Singapore RiverThe only thing stopping you from seeing the fireworks here is the crowd and the Esplande Bridge. Otherwise, a decent spot.
11. Marina South/ Marina Bay MRTThis VERY deserted spot may have views, as there isn't any buildings in the way (yet) to block the view, only many trains. Do head towards the ECP.
For those with cash to burn:
1. Singapore FlyerGet aboard between 7.45pm and 7.55pm. The ride is 30 minutes, and you will see the Floating Platform as you make your way up. You will be approximately 1/2 to 1/4 of the way up the wheel, and it will be an excellent view.
Key timings (all timings are approximate):
6.45pm - First Flyby (will have the Singapore Flag some time later, but before the aerial display) - This will be the part of the parade where the President makes his Inspection.
7.00pm to 7.15pm - Aerial show by the Black Knights
8.00pm - 8.30pm - Fireworks!
Key dates:
9th August - National Day
:3
Any comments, feel free to leave it. I was bored.
Note - All the above locations is based on past experience walking around the city area. If the view is obstructed, too bad.
Important note:I went to the preview show on 2nd Aug, sitting on the bridge. From there, there'll be a barge floating in the middle of the bay. The fireworks will be launched from there, and there are some on the platform itself, which isn't worth noting because it's pretty far away. Also, I reached there at around 5.30pm. By then, Merlion Park and the Esplanade waterfront were crowded already. The bridge itself was also populated by many people, although it was still comfortable to walk around.
In addition, Esplanade's Rootop open space is
closed. The footpath along Benjimin Shears' Bridge is also
closed, so do take note. Esplande Bridge will also be regulated by the Police. Too many people, and they'll close off access. The field along St. Andrew's Road MAY be
closed as well, for some mass formation (they make a Singapore flag using many many people holding umbrellas or something).
Ok , so anyone wanna go?
Want go tag on the blog :]
Hope somebody will go , i'm really bored!
